An Industrial Visit was organized by the Department of Communication, SLA, Uttaranchal University on September 7, 2021 for BAJMC students to Doordarshan and Aakashwani, Dehradun. An Industrial visit has its own significance in the career of a student pursuing a professional programme. The purpose of the visit was to provide students an insight regarding internal working of TV and Radio Production.
Mr Anil Bharti, Programming Head Akashwani was the Resource Person. He briefed All India Radio, Akashwani, India’s first Radio Station. His deliberations were based on the history of Akashvani as the first national public radio broadcaster of India and a division of Prasar Bharati which started its operations in India in 1957. He told the students about various programs and production aspects of radio. He also informed the students about how live programs take place through radio stations. Students visited the radio studio and understood the technical aspects of radio broadcasting.
Mr SS Rawat, Assistant Director Program DD discussed the TV program production techniques. Students understood the concepts of TV program production as they visited PCR (Production Control Room) and learned about different PCR equipment which are used for producing a TV program. Further, students visited the News Studio where they understood the process of news presentation through Teleprompter. Also they got to know the functioning for entire news room and Geo station from where the news telecast takes place.
Technical Sessions were followed by an Interactive Session during which students raised their queries related to prevailing career opportunities in the field of Govt. media and journalism. The visit proved to be a great learning experience for the students not only on technical front, but also created awareness about opportunities in different areas and how to grab these opportunities. Students expressed their gratitude towards their teachers for providing them with opportunities beyond academics to enhance their knowledge and technical skills.
The visit was conceptualized and conducted under the guidance of Dr Jitendra Sinha, HoD, department of Communication, SLA. The visit was coordinated by Ms Smriti Uniyal, Assistant Professor, department of Communication, SLA.
