Seminar on “Industrial Innovation with Human Values and Professional Ethics”

A Seminar on “Industrial Innovation with Human Values and Professional Ethics” was organised by the School of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University on 6 September 2022. The seminar was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Dr S Farooq, President, Himalaya Wellness Company, Shri Jitender Joshi Ji, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) S S Sehgal, Vice President, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Abhishek Joshi, Director-SA & IT Services, and Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean, School of Applied & Life Sciences & Science & Research. This Seminar was organised as a part of the orientation program for I year students of various science disciplines. The seminar was started with a warm welcome by Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University followed by a concept note of the conference by Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh.

Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi addressed the need for innovation as per industrial applications. He motivated the participants to do research through dissertations & projects. Dr S Farooq delivered his talk on human values and ethics in professional life. He quoted many practical examples of human values which play a very important role in society as well as in professional life. He stressed on doing research with implications in life. Dr Sehgal and Dr Bahuguna expressed their views. Dr Bharati Ramola, Cultural Head proposed the vote of thanks. Seminar more than 750 students & 50 students participated in the Seminar. The seminar was co-ordinated by Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh. The conference was compered by Mr Ankit Joshi & Ms Agrima Pandey.

Sports Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized Diksharambh Sports Day – 2022

Sports Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, organized Diksharambh Sports Day – 2022 for the First Year
students. The event aimed to promote the physical and mental well-being of students. Dean of UIM Professor (Dr.) Pradeep Suri inaugurated the event. The students participated in a wide range of sports events, ranging from Table Tennis to Carom Board, and Chess to Badminton. Many students enthusiastically participated in the event.

The final match of Table Tennis was won by Ayush Raj of BBA 1st year. The winner of Badminton was Sanskriti Bisht of BBA 1st year. The winner of the Carom Board competition was Prateek Aswal of BBA 1st year. The winner of the Chess competition was Abhay Tomar of BBA 1st year. The event was coordinated by Mr. Manish Ghalwan, Head of sports club, accompanied by Ms. Kanchan Bisht, Mr. Farman Ali, Mr. Rakesh kumar, and Mr. Sanjay Singh Chauhan. In all, the entire event was a grand success.

Teacher’s Day Celebration in UIT, Uttaranchal University

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UIT, Uttaranchal University students enthusiastically and fervently observed Teacher’s Day on 5th September 2022. They paid tribute to Late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, a distinguished academician, and teacher who served as India’s second president and first vice president. His birthday has been observed annually in India as Teacher’s Day since 1962. It was truly heart-warming to read that students honoured their teachers by organizing various events and making them feel special. Students also expressed their feelings by giving each faculty member a handwritten slogan and a flower. A really lovely song was performed by B Tech third-year student Mr. Naman Sharma to honour the faculty members and followed by a musical chairs game. After the cake-cutting ceremony, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Joshi, HoD-ME, gave a speech of appreciation. Prof.(Dr). S.D Pandey Dean, UIT expressed appreciation in his absentia for the occasion and commended the students for planning such a lovely and special day.

Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University celebrated Teacher’s day

Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University celebrated Teacher’s day on 5th September 2022 to mark the birth anniversary of former Vice President, Shri S Radhakrishnan. The Students performed various cultural events and felicitated the faculty members as a token of gratitude. Ms Shruti and Ms Gurpreet, II semester students anchored the program, Ms Pooja Negi and the team sang an invocation song followed by the lamp lighting by the Dean and other faculty members. The Dean, Dr Babu D addressed and blessed the gathering and the celebration continued with various cultural activities and ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Mehek Mallik, I semester student.

Uttaranchal Institute of Management organized Teacher’s Day

Guru Shishya relationship is one of the oldest and most important foundation stones of our lives. In India, 5th September is celebrated as Teacher’s Day as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to society. We at Uttaranchal Institute of Management believe that student-teacher interaction is very important and hence the students from the various programmes of the Institute came out in joint efforts in making “Teacher’s Day” a memorable and remarkable one for their teachers..On this occasion, Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM, Dr Rajeev Ranjan, HoD, UIM and other faculty members were welcomed by the students of UIM.

The afternoon started with the students showing their gratitude to the teachers. It was a colorful program with cultural events as well as some fun-filled games for the teachers.  The active participation of both teachers and students left the campus buzzing with life. The students exhibited their talent and devotion to teachers through speech, poem recitation, dancing and singing. Dr Suri acknowledged in his speech that a good teacher is a pillar in the life of students. He motivated the students to become good people and good teachers. He emphasized the devotion, determination, and dedication of a teacher for this profession.

The efforts of the students were appreciated by the Dean, UIM and all the faculty members.

An Educational Visit of Freshers Batch 2022 to ONGC, Dehradun,

As a part of the orientation cum induction program in the School of Applied & Life Sciences (SALS), an educational visit was organized on 3 September 2022 by SALS, for the first semester students of B Sc (H) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology and Microbiology and M Sc students (PCM) to Subhir Raha Oil Museum, Tel Bhavan Complex, ONGC, Dehradun. A total of 92 students visited ONGC.

The students got exposure to various methods and scientific tools. The ground floor of the museum also consists of Foucault’s pendulum which is the theme exhibit of the museum and represents the dynamism of the earth. The students were familiarized with the concepts of crude oil, properties of the oil, formation of oil, tectonic plates, the strata, Digboi well, group gathering station and offshore supply vessel.

Moreover, the students collected valuable information about different aspects of ongoing processes such as oil extraction, refining, and transportation; oil prospecting, geological exploration, remote sensing, seismic exploration, data processing and interpretation, tools and tackles, jack-up RIG (Sagar Joyti), rotary drilling, Christmas Tree, sucker rod pump, transportation of crude, hazards in transportation, refinery products, fractional distillation, catalytic cracking, treating and blending of crude, safety and environment protection.

In various ways, it was a great exposure for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. The students benefited and became familiar with the extraction, refining, and transportation of oil and natural gas. They grasp the significance and the role of ONGC in the economic growth of India. The visit was organized under the guidance of Dr Ajay Singh (Dean, SALS) and it was coordinated by  Dr V K Srivastav, Head, Mathematics. The faculty members Dr Reena Dhyani, Dr Indra Rautela, Dr Narottam Singh, Dr Sadhana Awasthi, Dr Shalu Chaudhary and Dr Sudhanshu Mishra accompanied the students.

Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences Inauguration Ceremony “Shubhaarambh”

It is a great matter of privilege for Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences (USCS) to organize official the inauguration ceremony, “Shubharambh”, on 31 August 2022.

The program began with a warm welcome of the Chief Guest Smt Anuradha Joshi, Chairperson, Sushila Devi Education Trust, Guests of Honor Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Satbir Singh Sehgal, Vice President, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr Abhishek Joshi, Director Student Affair & IT Services, Dr S C Sharma, Registrar, Dr K B Pokhriyal, COE, All Dean/Directors of various School, along with the faculty members and energetic students of USCS.

The event started with auspicious Ganpati Sthapna at the threshold; all the luminaries lit the inaugural lamp followed by the recital of the University Kulgeet. A magnificent display of cultural program showcased by the students of USCS. Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma, Dean USCS, welcomed all the dignitaries, faculty members and students. She talked about her high hope for USCS accomplishments and expressed her determination to take USCS to sky-high victories. She also appreciated the student`s hard work who presented different activities during the program.

 Vice-President, Dr Satbir Singh Sehgal, appreciated the team USCS for the growth and development of USCS in terms of academics and research development in the field of Information Technology. He motivated all the faculty members with his kind words. He urges the students to be demanding. The Event was organized by Sanskriti Club of USCS and it was a great success with the support of Mr Sameer Dev Sharma, Ms Manisha Khanduja, Ms Pratibha Pandey, Mr Praveen Kumar Shah and Students of USCS.

E-Cell of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organised a workshop on “IDEATHON- Creating and Building Innovative Ideas for Entrepreneurship”

E-Cell of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organised a workshop on “IDEATHON- Creating and Building Innovative Ideas for Entrepreneurship” on 31 August 2022 in the Seminar Hall of UIM in offline mode. This workshop aimed at providing appropriate knowledge and a platform for students to encourage them about entrepreneurial idea generation.

Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Dean, Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University was the eminent speaker for the said workshop. Ms Neha Rastogi head E- Cell hosted the workshop for all Management students and welcomed the eminent speaker.

Prof (Dr)Rajeev Ranjan, HoD, UIM, Uttaranchal University, welcomed the eminent speaker to have a discussion on Creating and Building Innovative Ideas for Entrepreneurship. Prof (Dr)Pradeep Suri initiated the session with an introduction to the relevance of money in one’s life. To make students understand the concept of entrepreneurship; he categorized that some people who have an advantage of pre-existed strong financial background are less worried about earning money, and most people seek a good job for survival and are much more satisfied with their average earnings. Prof Suri referred to various examples of Alumni of UIM who are presently running their successful business. He also spoke about the hardships faced by them during the initial entrepreneurial process. To boost the morale of the students the quotes like “Dream Big Work Hard” and “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently” were well articulated by Prof (Dr) Suri. Further, he laid an emphasis on the identification of untapped markets and the actual need of the consumers to start any sort of business. At the end of the session Prof (Dr) Suri briefly discussed the process of business proposal and said that further detailed discussion on the same will be undertaken in the next session.

A vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Mohd Amir, to the eminent speaker, faculty members & students. On behalf of Uttaranchal University, he expressed his gratitude to the eminent speaker for augmenting the knowledge of the students on idea generation towards entrepreneurial establishments. The workshop turned out to be interactive & informative with great success.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Uttaranchal University observed “National Small Industry Day” on 30 August 2022

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Uttaranchal University observed “National Small Industry Day” on 30 August 2022. National Small Industry Day 2022 is observed in India every year on August 30th August to encourage and shape government policies to enhance the efficiency of the small-scale sector. The advent of the National Small Scale Industry Day can be traced back to August 2000 when the Government of India formulated a comprehensive policy package for the small-scale industries in the country. On this occasion, a poster presentation was organized by the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The inauguration of the event took place at Mechanical Engineering Department UIT. The event was started with the welcome remark of the event coordinator Mr. Saurabh Aggarwal (Assistant Professor) ME, UIT. Prof (Dr) S D Pandey, Dean, UIT graced the event with his presence and shared his valuable insights and shared information on government policies and platforms for the students to start their own ventures. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi encouraged the students by sending his best wishes to students and the entire Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department for organising such an event.

Mr Sanjeev Kumar Joshi HOD, ME, addressed the gathering with his encouraging words for organizing such an event and addressed gathering in his address he said the government has been working hard to support the ecosystem since Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises constitute a crucial link in the growth and development of any country. Dr. Shushant Singh, Assistant Professor, ME, UIT also shared his opinion on the occasion of National Small Industry Day. During the activity, all the faculty members of the Department of Mechanical Engineering were present to grace the event. The coordinators of the event were Mr Saurabh Aggarwal, Assistant Professor, ME-UIT and Mr Vivek John, Assistant Professor, ME, UIT.  The program concluded with the formal vote of thanks given by event coordinator Mr. Saurabh Aggarwal, Assistant Professor ME, UIT.
