Objective:

The B.Sc (Agri.) course is an under graduate course related to the field of agriculture. The focus of this study is on agriculture. Under this course students are trained about the most modern methods used in fertilizers; plant bio- technology .The course apart from training in scientific skills also trains in marketing skills of agriculture products. Under this study the students are exposed to real life rural settings so that they can understand the problems of farmers and rural people and find solutions to their problems.

M.Sc. in Plant Pathology trains the students in identifying the symptoms of the particular plant disease, disease management and treatment through chemicals

Infrastructure:

The Agriculture labs are well equipped for teaching and learning core and specialized curriculum. State-of-the-art agricultural chemistry laboratory is established for conducting chemical analyses of diverse plant and soil samples as a part of curriculum. Plant pathology lab, Microbiology lab and other teaching resources. All labs are well equipped with demonstration aids, models, specimens and experimental support systems.

For Forestry studies the department has adequate lab set up which consists of   Forestry nursery; Computer lab with RS & GIS facilities; Plantation sites; departmental library; goods and camping equipments

Career options:

A Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science qualifies the degree holder for the job of agricultural, food, or animal scientist, as well as microbiologist or wildlife conservationist.

With a Masters degree (Plant pathology/ Agronomy/Horticulture) the students can get high paying jobs in plant protection dept at the scientist level.  The Agriculture   Fertilizer companies also   require agricultural experts. Organic food production companies hire them as quality control experts and collaborate with agriculturists in contact farming. Master’s degree in agricultural sciences also qualifies the students for higher research in Dept of Agriculture Research. They can also appear for Civil Services Examination.

 Eligibility:

B.Sc. AGRICULTURE

  • 10+2 examination with PCB/PCM or equivalent.
  • Minimum 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST category)

M.Sc. (PLANT PATHOLOGY/AGRONOMY/HORTICULTURE)

  • Sc. Agri. /B.Sc. Forestry/B.Sc. Horticulture/B.Sc. with CBZ (Chemistry. Botany, Zoology) combination.
  • Minimum marks 55% for general category  and 50%  for  SC/ST

Admission Procedure:

B.Sc. AGRI.

  • Admission to B.Sc. Agri. is based on merit computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination.
  • University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates.

M.Sc. (PLANT PATHOLOGY/AGRONOMY/HORTICULTURE)
