The department has the following laboratories with the latest equipments:
Central Instrumentation Laboratory
The Central Instrumentation Laboratory is established for the students, research scholars and faculty members of the university who are actively engaged in R&D activities in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Central Instrumentation Laboratory is presently having sophisticated instruments like High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Calorimeter, Lyophilizer and Sonicator.
The Machine Room is equipped with modern equipments and machinery used for pilot project, formulation and development studies in injectables, tablets, capsules, liquid orals and ointment sections. It has a well built area of machines generally encountered in Pharmaceutical Industry and provides a window for young and aspiring pharmacists to be well versed with the current pharmaceutical scenario.
Pharmaceutics is concerned with the scientific and technological aspects of the design and manufacture of dosage forms. The laboratory is designed for providing instructions in several pharmaceutical technology aspects particularly the manufacturing of various pharmaceutical dosage forms. It is equipped with the required machines and apparatus.
The laboratory exposes the students to the basic methodologies used to evaluate how drugs modify physiological functions, through interactions with specific receptors at distinct sites. The laboratory helps train the students in practical studies of pharmacology and chemotherapy, bioassays of various drugs, etc. The laboratory provides expertise and has the available equipments to measure drugs, drug metabolites, toxicants and some endogenous compounds in a wide range of biological matrices.
Human, Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory
Anatomy and Physiology laboratory is designed to provide a foundation in human biology. This includes the knowledge of basic anatomical and histological organization of the human body and its physiology. Students learn how the various organs of the body interact with one another and how they contribute to the overall physiology of the body.
Pharmacognosy, defined as the study of the physical, chemical, biochemical and biological properties of drugs or potential drugs or drug substances of natural origin as well as the search for new drugs from natural sources, is a specialized area of applied science which deals with natural products that affect the health of humans and animals. This laboratory consists of organized as well as unorganized crude drugs. The lab provides esteemed guidelines to the students regarding natural source of drugs and phytochemical screening through various instruments. The laboratory is utilized for morphological and anatomy study of drugs of natural origin. The lab is associated with a museum in which herbal drugs are displayed.
Computer Laboratory is designed to provide a teaching environment that develops specific skills in the students and help them master the technology skills needed in their particular field, as well as learn how software assists in information assimilation, analysis, and organization of material for presentation and effective decision making.
The Computer Laboratory offers different software applications to support varied program areas. This lab is equipped with the following software’s Windows OS, MS office, Powerpoint, Chem Draw, Chem Sketch, Ex -Pharm (Pharmacology Interactive Animal Model).
The museum has an extensive collection of different drugs (Photos) and display of dosages form like type of Tablets, Capsule, Creams, Liniments, Lozenzes, Syrups, First-Aid Kit, surgical instruments, and various medication containers.
