To reinvent the education system and give students a break from traditional learning, there is a dire need to revive the quiz culture and technology can act as a facilitator by bringing innovation to quizzes and ensuring active participation among students. Besides the obvious academic benefits of expanding a student’s knowledge and exploring new skills at an early age, quizzes redefine the education system in significant ways like seeking opportunities to excel beyond academics and secure their future, changing scope of learning encouraging team work and bridging academia-industry gap.
With all these motives and a determination to achieve them the Department of Computer Science Engineering, University Polytechnic, Uttaranchal University organized and conducted an “Online Technical Quiz” at the national level on Thursday, July 30, 2020 in which as many as 100 participants from various universities and colleges in different parts of the country registered themselves through the web portal designed and developed exclusively for this purpose by the Department of Computer Science Engineering,. The quiz that lasted for half an hour was based on technical questions from various topics of web designing, programming languages, software & hardware and the like in the format of Multiple Choices Questions (MCQ’s).
The result of the quiz, in which Mr. Aditya Raj Sharma, University Polytechnic, Mr. Vaibhav Sudi, Uttaranchal Institute of Management, and Ms. Shivani Mishra, Uttaranchal Institute of Management stood at First, Second, and Third Positions respectively, was provided to all the participants online on the same day through online mode. Certificates were provided to all the successful students who scored a minimum of fifty percent marks and above as was pre decided by the Organizing Committee in the four categories of Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold & Elite.
Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Shah, Principal, University Polytechnic, congratulated wholeheartedly the entire department on the successful organization and conduct of the event and hoped that the college would keep on introducing novel innovative ways and means of enriching the pedagogy of teaching and that the event would now become a continuous feature of the academic calendar of the college.
