About the courses

B.Sc. Forestry - 4 Years course

B.Sc. Forestry is a four year undergraduate degree course that prepares students for professional career in Forest Management. This course is in high demand among the students who have interests in forests and wild life. The role of foresters is to manage forests so that people can benefit from this natural resource on a sustainable basis. Forests are one of the most important natural resources for us. Forestry is the science of development and management of forests by protecting, conserving and upgrading forest resources.

B.Sc. Agriculture 4 Years course

The B.Sc (Agri.) course is an under graduate course related to the field of agriculture. The focus of this study is on agriculture. Under this course students are trained about the most modern methods used in fertilizers; plant bio- technology .The course apart from training in scientific skills also trains in marketing skills of agriculture products .Under this study the students are exposed to real life rural settings with the aim to develop a sense of awareness among the students so that they can understand the problems of farmers and rural people.

B.Sc. Food Technology (Hons.) - 3 Years course

The food industry is one of the largest industries in the world and needs highly trained professionals to ensure the sustainable supply, quality and safety of food and food engineering. The objective of this course is to offer in- depth study of various areas related to Food Science and Technology so as to enable the students to understand food composition its nutritional, microbiological and sensory aspects. This program also trains the students in the processing and preservation techniques of food items .They are also taught about the importance of safety, quality, plant sanitation of food , food laws and regulations, and packaging in food industry.

B.Sc. Horticulture - 4 year course

Horticulture is an integral part of agriculture and horticultural crop and constitutes a significant component of total agricultural production of the country. It is considered, one of the fastest growing sectors in agriculture because the changing domestic food habits of the people and their preference for nutritious food is increasing overseas demand for fruits and vegetables. The science of horticulture studies cultivation of fruits, vegetables, ornamental flowers, medicinal, aromatic plants and their post-harvest management. Horticulture is a diversified field with numerous career opportunities in a variety of fields; in the areas of research and development, production , processing and marketing of the produce and inputs. They can also work in government agencies like Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), institutes of the ICAR set up all over the country, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), State agricultural and horticultural Universities, state department of agriculture and horticulture, banks and seed industry.

B.Sc. Biotechnology (Hons.) - 3 Years course

The science of Biotechnology studies how Biology can be used with technology to create different forms and systems to secure maximum benefit for living organism. This science consists of using living cells and bacteria in the industrial process Biotechnology is interdisciplinary because it studies Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology, Virology, Genetics Engineering and Food Technology. The course also involves the study of agriculture science, health and medicine, soil science and soil conservation, cell Biology, cropping system and crop management, plant physiology, ecology, bio-statistics, seed technology, etc. Biotechnology is highly research –oriented subject.

Eligibility for these courses

Under Graduate Courses:

  • B.Sc. Forestry - 10+2 examination with minimum 50% marks in PCB/PCM (40% in case of SC/ST category).
  • B.Sc. Agriculture - 10+2 examination with PCB/PCM or equivalent. Minimum 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST category).
  • B.Sc. Horticulture - 10+2 examination with PCB/PCM/Agriculture or equivalent. Minimum 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST category)
  • B.Sc. Biotechnology (Hons.) - 10+2 examination with PCB/PCM/Biotechnology or equivalent. Minimum 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST category)
  • B.Sc. Food Technology (Hons.) - 10+2 examination with PCB/PCM. Minimum 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST category)
  • B.Sc. Physics (Hons.) - 10+2 examination with PCB/PCM .Minimum 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST category)
  • B.Sc. Chemistry (Hons.) - 10+2 examination with PCB/PCM .Minimum 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST category)

Details about the admissions procedure

B.Sc. Forestry -

  • Admission is based on merit computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates.
  • Out of total intake 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand state under state quota and rest are open to students from all over India.
  • Uttarakhand domicile students would be granted 26% rebate in tuition Fees.

B.Sc. Agriculture-

  • Admission is based on merit computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible candidates.
  • Out of total intake 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand state under state quota and rest are open to students from all over India
  • Uttarakhand domicile students would be granted 26% rebate in tuition Fees.

B.Sc. Food Technology (Hons.)-
