Embedded systems are re-imagined as a result of billions of sensors, and VLSI is re-imagined as a result of that. VLSI design for IoT/embedded chips demands a change of perspective. India is taking considerable steps to develop its electronic manufacturing sector. With a compound annual growth rate of 6.7 percent, the worldwide semiconductor industry will be $655.6 billion in 2025, up from $342.7 billion in 2015. The global semiconductor business is expected to generate $415.4 billion in revenue by the year 2020. Owing to this, Uttaranchal University offers specialization in the field of VLSI & Embedded System to students who have enrolled in the undergraduate program B.Tech ECE.

B.Tech ECE with VLSI & Embedded system is a 4 year program offered at Uttaranchal University aims to provide the knowledge and skills in VLSI design methodology and embedded system. The curriculum covers algorithms, System Architecture Verification Techniques, Component requirement for Hardware Model, substantial Designs, and Synthesis & Simulation for VLSI system. The programme also covers thrust areas like Real Time application of VLSI & Embedded Systems, Advanced Microcontrollers, Advanced Embedded System Design, and System on Chip. Apart from the curriculum, the teaching pedagogical activities include industrial visits, seminars, practice on various simulation tools like, workshops on new technologies, and guest lecturers.

Career Prospect: 

As demand of VLSI and embedded is increasing rapidly, students make their career in industry of Semiconductors as an engineer of VLSI, Chip designing, PCB designer, robotics industry, embedded system engineer, as a programmer for embedded system etc. After successful completion of the degree and clearing the competitive exams set by agencies, student can also go in the R & D organisations involving Embedded Systems Design and Developments.

Eligibility:	Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/ Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship. Minimum 50% marks for general and 45% in case of SC/ST category.

Admission Procedure:	Admission is based on merit, computed on the basis of marks secured in JEE (Main) / All National Aptitude Tests/Qualifying Examination/Performance of candidates in personal interview. Out of the total intake, 40% seats are allotted to students of Uttarakhand under the State Quota and the rest are open to students from All India. In case the allotted percentage of seats of State Quota remains vacant, it will be filled by All India students.
