Department of Civil Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University organized a one-week ‘Survey Camp’ from 2nd- 8th May, 2018. Students of B.Tech. (Civil Engineering) VI Semester participated in the camp and were exposed to the real field experience of surveying at Mandu Siddh, Dehradun. The Mandu Siddh site possesses most of the topographical features such as mountain, river, valley, canal, road, retaining wall, cultivated area and forest area which makes it an ideal site for surveying. The survey used to start every day at 9:30 am and ended at 4:30 pm.
Mr. Amit Bahuguna (Head- Department of Civil Engineering), Mr. Arvind Singh Negi (Field Incharge), Mr. Ankit Negi (Camp Coordinator) along with Mr. Awadhesh Chandramauli, Mr. Himanshu Chaudhary and Mr. Prabhat Singh were in the camp with 55 students.
Students performed survey which included reconnaissance of area and selection of station/point & routes. The students were also shown the hill features by contouring, the cultivated area, forest area and all topographical details with the help of conventional symbols. During this camp the students performed Plane Table Survey by different methods, measurement by EDM/ Total Station and Reciprocating Surveying.
