The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized debate on “Current Issues” on 21st April, 2018. The event focused on the issues related to technology, sciences and economics. Dr. B.Lonia, Dean-Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology graced the event with his presence.

The program commenced with the inspiring words of Dr. B. Lonia, who encouraged and motivated the students for their future and shared his valuable life experiences with them. Eight teams, comprising 2 members each, participated in the debate. The participants were from the Second and Third year of B.Tech.

Mechanical Engineering and spoke on the following topics:

  1. Should Chinese products be banned in India or not?
  2. Is technology the cause of unemployment?
  3. Should animals be used in medical practices or not?

The event witnessed a huge participation and students presented their diverse opinions on the above mentioned topics and presented various facts and figures. Kamal Bhatt, B.Tech. (ME) 6th Semester was awarded the Best Speaker, Team-A comprising of Pawan Joshi and Vinay Phulara, B.Tech (ME) 6th Semester emerged as the Best Team, Shubhankar Das, B.Tech (ME) 6th Semester and Parv Jha, B.Tech (ME) 4th Semester were adjudged the Best Speaker “For” and “Against” respectively.

The program came to an end with the words of wisdom delivered by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Joshi, Head – Department of Mechanical Engineering. The event was successfully organized by the faculty coordinators Ms. Shivani Pande and Ms. Ruby Pant, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, with the help of student volunteers.
