An Educational Tour was organized by the Department of Management, Uttaranchal Institute of Management, on 9th October, 2017 for the III Semester students of MBA (with specialization in Marketing) to acquaint them with the practical implications of various concepts imparted to them in the subject ‘Consumer Behavior’. The objective of the tour was to expose the students to real life situations faced by the lower segment of our society.
To achieve this objective the students visited and analyzed the slum localities of different parts of Dehradun. The areas covered were Prem Nagar and nearby areas, localities near Rispana Bridge, Bindal Bridge, Kargi Intersection, ISBT and the adjoining areas of River Tong.
The students studied the behavior and tried to examine the experiences of the slum-dwellers as regards to their purchases during the current festive season of Deepawali.
The tour was conceptualized and organized by Dr SM Mariyam Fatima, HOD-Management.
