Day -1

The seven-day Faculty Development Programme & Teachers’ Congruence jointly organized by Uttaranchal University and Institute of Company Secretaries of India was inaugurated on 16th July, 2018 in Law College Dehradun, a faculty of Uttaranchal University. The Chairperson of I.C.S.I, Dehradun Chapter & Company Secretary UJVN Limited Shri Arun Sabharwal was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion while Hon’ble Chancellor of the University Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. N. K. Joshi and Vice Chairman of Dehradun Chapter of ICSI Shri Anjan Kumar were the distinguished guests.

The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the auspicious lamp. Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi presented bouquet & memento to the Chief Guest while Shri Arun Sabharwal reciprocated the gesture by presenting an ‘Angvastram’ as the symbol of the institution. On the pious occasion of ‘Harela Festival’, Shri Sabharwal presented a Replica of “Kedarnath Temple” to the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean and the Speakers of the programme to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Shri Arun Sabharwal presented his lecture on the topic “Management Education in Shrimad Bhagvad Gita”. He mentioned that it would be appropriate to call Gita as an ocean incorporating tools of management. Quoting Gita’s contribution to management he compared every verse of the first chapter of Gita with the modern principles of management. The session turned out to be very informative and interesting as every principle enunciated in Gita is relevant in the contemporary scenario. Different aspects of management like utilization of resources, use of technology and information sharing, planning and decision making, SWOT analysis were comprehensively discussed.

Session 2 included three Lectures. The first lecture was delivered by Shri N.P.S. Chawla on the topic “Goals of Students”. He offered interesting and simple answers to the questions related to eligibility for Company Secretaryship, professional utilities goals and why a student should choose Company Secretaryship as a career option. The lecture was enlightening as the job prospects of a Company Secretary were vividly explained.

This was followed by Shri Vineesh Mathur’s Lecture on “Goods and Services Tax”. He comprehensively dealt with different types of taxes under G.S.T. and removed the related confusions. The agenda of his lecture included Journey of GST, Design of GST, Main Features, Admin and IT network, benefits of GST, etc. The session was a captivating one as it was relevant to one and all.

Shri K. K. Singh, Managing Partner of ICSI explained the provisions regarding Company Law Tribunal and disposal of company related cases in the present circumstances.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Chancellor of the University, Shri Jitender Joshi reiterated the commitment of the University to provide information regarding latest and modern teaching technologies to the faculty members of the University. He expressed his hope that the university teachers, in the next seven days, would immensely benefit from the lectures delivered by Subject Experts of different disciplines. The sessions ended with a Thank You Note delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Principal & Dean of Law College Dehradun.

K. Shah along with all the Faculty Members of the University were present on the occasion.
