Fit India Movement is a nation-wide movement in India to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. The movement was launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi on 29th August, 2019 on the occasion of National Sports Day. The Prime Minister urged the people of the country to make fitness their lifestyle. At Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, we have adopted and enshrined these words into our day-to-day curriculum as the philosophy that guides our everyday activities in the college.
The sports Club of UIM organized “Sports day” on 21st Sept.2021for the first year students to get familiarize with the University Environment. The event was inaugurated by Dean-UIM Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, who was accompanied by Dr.Megha Aggarwal (HOD – Management) and Dr. Sonal Sharma (HOD – IT).
The students participated with a great zeal and excitement in a wide range of sports events which included Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Chess. The event was headed by Sports In-charge Mr. Farman Ali along with Dr.Sangeeta Sundriyal, Ms.Vijaylakshmi Sajvan, Mr. Deepak Tyagi, and Dr.Shagun Tyagi. Mr. Praveen Shah, Ms.Sanyukta Chibber and Mr.Sanjay Kumar Chauhan on 21st Sept.2021.All the matches were conducted as a part of orientation program and played in both Boys’ and Girls’ Categories. Students and faculty members participated in the events organized in the campus. All the players from Management & IT department showed their grit & sportsman spirit and competed ferociously and delivered their best performance.
Dean-UIM Prof.(Dr.).Pradeep Suri addresses the participants to take up fitness activities such as running and sports in their daily lives and get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, diseases, etc .He has also appreciated the move of the sports club to encourage the students for their overall (physical and mental) development.
