Dr. R.K. Jain, Director of Central Pulp and Paper Research Institute, Saharanpur delivered a special lecture on 9 October on “Green Chemistry and its role in sustainable development of industry”, a subject matter considered relevant to the current needs of the industries . 200 students of M.Tech. (Environmental Engineering), M.Sc (Industrial Chemistry), B.Sc (Hons)-Biotechnology, B.Sc(Hons.) Food Technology & B.Sc (Hons.)-Chemistry attended the lecture.
Dr. Jain is a renowned resource person, a Scientist-F and also Head of Biotechnology & Chemical Recovery division in CPPRI (Ministry of commerce & Industry, Govt. of India). He is an expert in the field of pulp, paper, biotechnology, food safety and environment. Dr. Jain has more than 100 research papers to his credit.
The hon’ble Chancellor Mr. Jitendra Joshi welcoming Dr. Jain expressed his happiness at an eminent scientist interacting with our students and giving them the knowledge that would help to bridge the gap between the theoretical and practical aspects of the curriculum and will stand them in good stead in their careers. Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director, SA & IT services, said that such Lectures would be beneficial to create awareness among the students about the environment of industries. Prof. N.K. Joshi, Director of UIT, stated that such teaching-learning processes will not only provide real practical knowledge but also self confidence to the students.
After a brief discussion with Vice Chancellor Prof. S.C. Joshi, Prof. N.K.Joshi (Director-UIT) and Dr.Ajay Singh(HOD Chemistry) Dr.Jain has agreed to sign an MOU related to research programmes and facility for Uttaranchal Students. He has also given his consent to providing training to students at CPPRI.
Dr. Jain also visited the Chemistry, food tech and biochemistry labs and appreciated the excellent infrastructure the departments have put in place and the innovative pedagogy being followed.
