Admission for NRI/PIO/FNS

Uttaranchal University, Dehradun (Uttarakhand)-India welcomes the candidates whose parents have been given the status of Non-Resident Indians (NRI) or have acquired the status of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) or are citizens of another country (FNS), to join its various study programs.

Note: Admission to all courses is direct and based on the merit computed from the marks/grade scored in the qualifying examination. Good knowledge of English is compulsory.



10+2 of Indian system or its equivalent of 12 years of school education, must have studied in English medium and should have obtained a pass in the qualifying examination with good grades in Physics, Chemistry/Computer Science and Mathematics.

B.Tech (Lateral Entry)

  • 3 years diploma or B.Sc. with PCM
  • Minimum 50% marks(45% marks in case of SC/ST category)

B.Sc. Agriculture

10+2 examination with PCB/PCM/Agriculture or equivalent. Minimum 45% marks

B.Sc. Horticulture

10+2 examination with PCB/PCM/Agriculture or equivalent. Minimum 45% marks

B.Sc. Forestry

10+2 examination with minimum 45% marks in PCB/PCM

B.Sc. Food Technology (Hons.)

  • 10+2 examination with English.
  • Minimum 45% marks

B.Sc. Biotechnology (Hons.)
10+2 examination with PCM/ PCB/ Biotechnology . Minimum 50% marks

B.Sc. Physics (Hons.)

10+2 examination with PCB/ PCM .Minimum 50% marks

B.Sc. Chemistry (Hons.)

10+2 examination with PCB/PCM .Minimum 50% marks

B.Sc. Mathematics (Hons.)

10+2 examination with PCM. Minimum 50% marks

Diploma Courses in Engineering (Polytechnic)

Candidate who has secured minimum 45% marks in 10th examination with Science.

Diploma Courses in Engineering (Polytechnic) – Lateral Entry

10+2 with Physics,Maths,Chemistry or Computer Science with 50% marks.


Candidates who have B.Tech degree in the concerned branch or candidates who are due to appear in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply, but at the time of personal interview they will be required to produce a certificate/mark sheet of the qualifying examination.

M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry

B.Sc. degree with 50% marks and Chemistry as one of the subjects in all the three years, shall be eligible.

BA.LL.B (Hons.): Pass 10+2 in any stream

BBA.LL.B (Hons.): Pass 10+2 in any stream

LL.B. (Hons.): A student after passing the graduation examination of this university or any Indian university incorporated by the law for the time being in force or any other examination recognized by the university.

LL.M: 1-Year: Graduation in Law

BBA: 45% marks in qualifying examination, English as a subject at 10+2 level

BCA: 45% marks in qualifying examination, English & Mathematics as subjects at 10+2 level

B.Com. (Hons.): 10+2 examination in any stream with minimum 45% marks

B.Sc. (IT): 10+2 examination with English. Minimum 45% marks

BA Economics (Hons.): 10+2 examination in any stream with minimum 45% marks

MBA: 50% marks in Graduation

Corporate MBA: Minimum 50% marks at graduation level .

MCA Lateral Entry: BCA/B.Sc.(IT/CSE) with minimum 50% marks

Documents to be submitted by NRI

Photo-copies of the following are to be attached along with the admission form:

  • NRI status certificate of the parent issued by the Indian Embassy of the respective country.
  • NRI bank account passbook of the NRI parent.
  • Valid Indian passport of the NRI parent
  • Qualifying marks/ grade
  • School Transfer Certificate/Migration Certificate
For Foreign National Category/PIO/FNS

  • Passport copy of the candidate
  • Valid student Visa/PIO/OCI card (in case of citizen of Indian origin)
  • School Transfer Certificate/Migration Certificate
  • Certificate showing that the candidate has proficiency in English language.
  • Proof of financial support.

Note: If the candidate has completed his qualifying examination in a Non-Indian Public Examination System, the candidate must submit eligibility certificate from Association of Indian University (AIU/New Delhi/Indian Embassy in that country where the candidate has studied).

Selection Procedure: Selection of the NRI/PIO/FNS will be done on the basis of qualifying exam.
