Law College Dehradun Organize a Mega Legal Awareness Camp at Raipur Block

Legal Aid Centre of Law College Dehradun faculty of Uttaranchal University organized a Mega Legal Awareness Camp at Village Panchayat Danda Khudanewala of Raipur Block, Dehradun. Panchayat Raj Minister of Uttarakhand Mr. Arvind Pandey was the Chief Guest of the occasion whereas MLA of Raipur Mr. Umesh Sharma (Kau) and Distt. Panchayat Raj Officer, Dehradun both were present as Special Guest. Mr. Jitendra Joshi, Chancellor of Uttaranchal University chaired the occasion and Principal of the College Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna conducted the proceeding of the programme. Block Pramukh, BDC Members, Village Pradhans, Panchayat Members, Representative of Self Help Groups and Common men of Raipur Block participated in this Mega Camp.

To make the Legal Awareness Programme interested and affective the students of Law College Dehradun created an artificial Panchayat in the name of ‘Parwadoon Ki Panchayat’. In this Panchayat right from the Panchayat Election and how to run the Panchayats and its proceedings were explained through a play. At the same time parallel to this play trained students of the College gave their presentations on the topics like How to Select Beneficiary of Panchayat, Domestic Violence, FIR, Motor Accident, Law Related to Forest, RTI, Allotment and Maintenance of Panchayati Land and Legal Aid.

 Presentation of Panchayat proceeding through a play and deliberation on the different topics side by side made the programme live. Comments taunting and hot discussion amongst the Panchayat members made the programme very interesting.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna Principal of the College stated that Legal Aid Centre of the College has been organizing Legal Awareness Camps for last 15 years. Centre is also assisting parties to resolve their disputes amicably  through mediation and conciliation.

Shri Jitendra Joshi Chancellor of the University stated the purpose of the camp that knowledge of the Law must not remain within the books and within limited people only but the legal knowledge should reach from village to village and man to man.

Raipur MLA Mr. Umesh Sharma (Kau) stated that it is a challenge for the government to make known series of laws passed by parliament and legislature of different states every day to all the people of the country. Mission of Legal Awareness launched by Legal Aid Centre of Law College Dehradun is a revolutionary step.

Address to the Panchayat Representative and Students Panchayat Raj Minister stated that the way students of the college observed and explained even very small factors of Panchayat Raj is an unprecedented example. He expected that every college of the state should join to the mission of Legal Awareness and that will be the best example of Social Corporate Responsibility by the education institution. He said that very soon his government will come up with a Gazette Notification to select the people who wish to come foreword to donate education being non teachers. Seeing the presentation of the Law College Students he became emotional and said, ‘The conditions in which we studied I, swear to those conditions that we should have been studied in the colleges like Law College Dehradun’.

 Distt. Panchayat Raj Officer Mohd. Zafar Khan and Block Pramukh of Raipur Smt. Beena Bahuguna also addressed the programme.
