Central library is the soul of the academics at Uttaranchal University. Its carpet area is 2430 Sqm. It is designed to meet the information needs of the users with an aim of providing “Anytime, Anywhere Access” to information through remote access facility. The Central Library supports university in building an excellence in academics and research by establishing a knowledge portal.
The library holds a hybrid collection of printed as well electronic resources which include books, journals, theses dissertations databases, audio-visuals, CDs/DVDs, e-books, e-journals, reports, case studies, conference proceedings, training manuals pertaining to all subjects under various courses.
The Central library and departmental libraries are well automated with integrated software LIBCYB. Library provides user friendly services such as Web OPAC for searching books online in library database. Subscription of E-journals and databases of International repute eg. IEEE, EBSCO, Westlaw, Manupatra, Sage etc are accessible to the users on and off campus.
The Library has a multimedia section for accessing NPTEL video lectures through ‘Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds’ (SWAYAM) on various subjects and topics. Media section provides a conducive environment for intellectual enquiry by providing user-focused services to obtain and evaluate scholarly information and knowledge. Central library is in proper coordination with the departmental libraries for effective library services to the Faculty members, Research scholars and students etc.

|Press Clippings Collection||The Library has a collection of approximately 3112 clippings concerning to topics relevant to the academic community of the University. The clippings are scanned, digitized and archived for academic use. The database of Press clippings is accessible through Institutional Repository.|
(A Group 32 DTH Channel devoted to telecasting of high-quality educational programmes on 24X7. The contents are provided by NPTEL, IITs, UGC, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS. The INFLIBNET Centre maintains the web portal.)

|Web OPAC||It is an online facility of Library for the users to search and retrieve the reading document from library without any assistance of library staff. User can browse the database of library and could also get reserved the book online. It is advised to the library users to check their library transaction of circulation and other issues related to library. The library system is completely transparent. It is also advised to the students to keep an eye on their library account and if they found any discrepancy, report to the Librarian on the same day on [email protected]|
|DELNET||Library is a member of Developing Library Network (DELNET). It’s a nodal organization of 4000 plus libraries network across the country and abroad. DELNET works as mediator for Inter Library Loan Services (ILL). It has developed a mechanism and facility to make a request for requisite books and documents from the networked libraries. |Turnitin||Library subscribes Turnitin, an anti-plagiarism software to check the documents of students and scholars for detecting plagiarism. It helps to encourage the students for improving their writing ability and saves them from academic dishonesty.|
|Remote Access||Library has a facility to access the subscribed e-resources from off the campus. Registered members can access the resources from home through log on and password. MIS report of this utility serves the various purposes of library.|
|Sodhganga||A digital repository of Indian Electronic Theses and Dissertation called “Shodhganga”, accessible to all institutions and universities. It has been hosting and maintaining by INFLIBNET. All PhD Theses of the university have been uploaded on the portal for public.|
|Sodhgangotri||“Shodhgangotri” is a repository of electronic version of synopses/research proposals submitted to universities before awarding the Ph.D. Provisions are made in ‘Shodhgangotri’ and ‘Shodhganga’ for researchers to submit synopsis/theses online after registering into both.|
|National Digital Library||Uttaranchal University is an institutional member of National Digital Library of India (NDLI). Most of the Students of the university have been registered on NDL for optimum utilization of free digital books and documents as available across the country. This is an initiative of Min. of HRD, Govt. of India.|
|WEL (e-Library)||World eBook Library is the World’s largest collection of Primary Source eBooks consists of 40 Lacs eBooks and millions of Journal Articles with Unlimited Access and Downloading. This e-library is available to Library of the University through NDL and direct access being as an associate member of INFLIBNET.|
|SAS (E-Archive)||The South Asia Archive is as a specialist digital platform delivering global electronic access to culturally and historically significant literary material produced from within – and about – the Indian subcontinent. The archive comprises out-of-copyright material dating back to the start of the eighteenth century and up to the mid-twentieth century. The South Asia Archive provides online access to millions of pages of rare primary and secondary sources from across the social sciences and humanities. |MOOCs through SWAYAM||Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) is An initiative under National Mission on Education through Information Communication Technology (NME-ICT) Programme. For the said purpose Min. of HRD started ‘Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds’ (SWAYAM).|
SWAYAM provides an integrated platform and portal for online courses, using information and communication technology (ICT) and covering High School till all higher education subjects and skill sector courses to ensure that every student benefits from learning material through ICT.
|SWAYAM PRABHA||The SWAYAM PRABHA is a group of 32 DTH channels devoted to telecasting of high-quality educational programmes on 24X7 basis using the GSAT-15 satellite. Every day, there will be new content for at least (4) hours which would be repeated 5 more times in a day, allowing the students to choose the time of their convenience.
