The Knowledge Resource Centre, Uttaranchal University Dehradun organised an interactive session on the topic National Webinar “Understanding of Research Ethics and Plagiarism on 17 September 2022. The Webinar received 554 + registrations from all over India.

The webinar witnessed an insightful session on “Understanding of Research Ethics and Plagiarism” by Prof (Dr) Bulu Maharana, Head LIS Department Sambalpur University Odisha and Dr Shri Ram University Librarian Sikkim University Gangtok. The event was moderated by Dr Deepika Dangi, Assistant Professor from the School of Applied of Life Sciences Uttaranchal University Dehradun with opening remarks on ‘Webinar.  She introduced all the panelists, the Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Webinar Convener, Dr Ramveer Tanwar and Resource Persons, Prof (Dr) Bulu Maharana, Head of Library and Information Science Sambalpur University Odisha and Dr Shri Ram University Librarian Gangtok Sikkim.

Convener, Dr Ramveer Tanwar University Librarian Uttaranchal University Dehradun welcomed all the 220 participants, esteemed speakers, and Higher Management.  The Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi and Pro VC, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna remarked the word of wisdom to the participants and motivated the participants to do quality research in their respective areas. Both the Resource Persons expressed their detailed views on the following topics:

Principles of research ethics and issues of research misconduct, ethical norms, principles in research, research Integrity, and research misconduct. And avoiding plagiarism in academic writing: A methodological approach, type, and form of research avoiding plagiarism in academic writing, techniques to avoiding plagiarism: Paraphrase, reference management software, tool to avoid plagiarism and legal aspects of plagiarism. At the end, a vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Arun S Thakur, Sr Grade Librarian to the participants in the event.
