The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.
University Polytechnic has always been at the forefront in making its contribution towards sustainable development through creating awareness among its students for the preservation of our natural environment and working towards conservation of our natural resources through disseminating relevant knowledge.
Keeping with its tradition, the NSS Team of the college, under the guidance of Mr. Kapil Rajput (NSS Coordinator-UP), organized a students’ PPT Presentation on January 29, 2020 on the topic and subject of “Forest Conservation”. The event commenced ceremoniously with the “Lamp-Lighting Ceremony” and the recital of the Kul-Geet.
Second Year Students of Diploma Engineering participated in the event and expressed their opinions, views and understanding on the vital subject. The participants spoke on need and necessity of conserving the environment and its natural resources along with underlining the meaning, methods and global scenario of the subject with the theme of “Not Me-But You”.
The winners, namely, Mr. Naveen Negi, Ms. Harshita Negi & Aman Singh Rawat, and Mr. Varun Saini won the First, Second, and Third Prize respectively. While giving away the Certificates to the winners, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Shah, Principal – University Polytechnic, encouraged the students to keep up with their noble efforts in this direction along with focusing on academics. He congratulated the entire NSS Team, comprising of Faculty Members and Student Coordinators, for the successful organization of the event. The event concluded with the rendition of National Anthem by all present.
