An Orientation Program for the first year students of B.Pharma and B.Sc. (Hons) – (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Food Technology and Biotechnology) was organized on 18th August 2017 in the Seminar Hall. The function was inaugurated by Shri Jitender Joshi ,Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N.K.Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) Nardev Singh, Director(Pharmacy) & Prof.(Dr.) Ajay Singh,Principal ( Applied & Life Sciences) with the lightening of the lamp.
The program proceeded with an introduction of the HODs and faculty members. The students were made aware of their concerned department, labs, computer lab & library.
Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal, School of Applied and Life Sciences addressed the gathering and welcomed the new entrants. He presented a brief history outlining the progress of Applied & Life Sciences. With the establishment of the University in 2013, Applied & Life Science courses started with 17 students, the number having risen to 425 in the current academic session. Expressing his commitment towards quality teaching he informed the students about the high quality of teaching, research and labs in the Department of Applied Sciences. He concluded by ecstatically announcing almost 100% placement of M.Sc. (Industrial Chemistry) and B.Sc.(Hons) Food Technology students.
Prof.(Dr.) Nardev Singh, Director, Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences welcomed the new students and introduced the vast field of Pharmacy. He asked the students to respect their parents, teachers and elders as this was the best way to show gratitude for their love, support and guidance.
Prof.(Dr.) N.K.Joshi, Vice Chancellor presented a summary of the history of Uttaranchal University, and highlighted it’s infrastructure, facilities, rules and regulations. He informed the students about the existing research facilities, student clubs and different activities asking them to utilize every opportunity to hone their skills.
Shri Jitender Joshi ,Hon’ble Chancellor welcomed the students and emphasized the significance of hard work in student life..He motivated the students to engage in healthy competition in their personal and professional life.
