The Induction Ceremony for the first year students of the Management Department of Uttaranchal Institute of Management was organized on 22nd August 2017 in the Seminar Hall.
The ceremony was conducted in two sessions. The first session started at 11:00 am with the traditional Kul Geet of Uttaranchal University. It was graced by the presence of Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) NK Joshi, Vice-Chancellor, Ms Ankita Joshi, Director- HR, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director- UIM, and Prof.(Dr.) D.S.Choubey, Dean- Research.
After the ceremonial lamp lighting, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri addressed the gathering and apprised the students of the academics and the culture which they need to imbibe to foster an atmosphere of harmony and continual out-of-the-box learning. He intrigued the students by asking them the basic question forming the management mantra ‘Are managers born or made?’ After giving ample time to ponder the answer he guided them on the same by citing numerous examples of entrepreneurs who succeeded early in life by implementing innovative ideas. He also stressed on the motto of Uttaranchal University, ‘excellence within you’ by making them realize that the potential lies within. A little push is required to reach the pinnacle in life.
In his address, Prof. (Dr.) NK Joshi, Vice-Chancellor, stressed upon the fact that in Uttaranchal University we create entrepreneurs. India being a young country replete with talent has delivered numerous entrepreneurs and has been the favorable destination for investments in industry from across the globe. It motivated the students to feel enthusiastic and think on similar lines as could be inferred from the way they reciprocated to his words of wisdom. He also apprised the students the history of Uttaranchal University, and its growth in the recent years enlisting the numerous achievements, and accolades received by the university apart from the benchmarks it created. He made the students aware about the policies, procedures and pedagogy and asked them to comply with the rules and regulations.
Honourable Chancellor, Mr. Jitender Joshi, in his address, guided the students towards the fundamental nature of our value system and stressed that one can contribute his best by giving his services back to the society. He clearly asserted that one’s foremost obligation is towards parents who struggle and suffer to give them the best. He also asked the students to refrain themselves from wasting their time in unproductive activities. He requested the Management Department to increase the level of practical exposure of the students so that they become more competitive in placements and are able to secure better positions in industry.
The second session started with the introduction of the HOD- Management, Dr. S M Mariyam Fatima, who introduced the faculty members of the department, coordinators of various classes and the members of various clubs and disciplines describing their roles, responsibilities and the assigned subjects. She introduced the Heads of all the disciplines, namely, Mr Anil Kumar Chauhan, Head- Discipline/Anti Ragging, Mr. Nitin, Head-Examinations, Mr. Ravinder Rawat, Head-Cultural& Academic Affairs, Mr. Rakesh Semwal, Head-Sports Affairs, Mr Jitender Singh, Head T&P Department.
All the member heads delivered their address and explained the roles and responsibilities of their departments and enlisted the activities they have planned for the current academic year.
Master of ceremony, Mr. Shivendra Singh Chaudhary, proposed the vote of thanks by extending his gratitude to the honourable management, HOD-Management, the speakers, faculty members, staff members and the students for their support and presence in the ceremony.
