School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS) celebrated National Science Day on 28th February 2022 to corroborate the theme Integrated approach in Science and Technology for a sustainable future. The invited experts for the event were Prof M S M Rawat, Emeritus Professor, Doon University and Ex-VC HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Dr Anil Singh, Director, Ved Life Savers and Mr Amit Kotiyal, DGM, Sheron Biomedicine. The event began with a welcome address by Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean SALS & Convenor. He briefed about the objective of organizing such events and contribution of students in Science and technology. Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University emphasized the conduction of objective oriented and meaningful research to strive to achieve sustainable development. In the first expert talk Prof M S M Rawat discussed the scope of Green Chemistry and various research aspects of natural products. In his talk he guided the students and scholars regarding the potential research area including artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, biotechnology with specific reference to gene editing and others. All such fields need to be explored for the benefit of society and the environment. Dr Anil Singh in his interactive session emphasized on imparting sound technical and laboratory skills so as to make students and scholars capable enough to develop and design solutions to a wide range of problems existing in society, environment and health care. Mr Amit Kotiyal interacted with students related to technical skills required to pursue a career in industries and also provided sound knowledge related to analytical techniques. The expert talks were followed by e-poster and powerpoint presentations by students. Aum Garg, B Sc Biotech student was awarded the best presentation award. The event was co-ordinated by Dr Nishesh Sharma.
