School of Liberal Arts organized an interesting and informative Guest Lecture entitled “The Making of Gen-z’s daily life with internet” on 28th May, 2021.The illuminating event was hosted by Ms. Bharti, Assistant Professor, SLA, who gave warm greetings to the virtual attendees and introduced the Guest Speaker of the event, Mr. Sandeep Yadav.
Mr. Sandeep Yadav, previously affiliated with Infosys, is one of the youngest leaders at i2e1 (Information to Every One),. He has been felicitated with Young Changemakers Award under 3rd Giving Economy Changemakers Summit by Crowdera 2020 and also recognized as the SDG Youth Ambassador, an initiative by United Nations. Currently, he is a part of The Berkeley Executive Program at UC BERKELEY.
Skill Development in the digital world is an inevitable aspect. The digital skills comprise the most knowledge-based activities that depend heavily on the use of technology. The use of digital technology needs to be integrated with and evaluated through the knowledge-base of the subject area.
The guest speaker explained the topic and enriched the minds with a wholesome Power Point Presentation that was centred on the impact of internet in the lives of the Gen Z. It was explained to students that how various social media platforms are structured on algorithms and how one must be careful and witty enough in the appropriate usage of the social media.
It was explained that how various social media platforms are also like the Ad Platforms and how these platforms use people as their products. Also, the students were made aware of the huge side of web that is not visible and is structured by the personal information that these platforms gather to make profits. A Question and Answer Session followed after the presentation, wherein the faculty members and the students interacted with the speaker by exchanging thoughts and were also answered for the questions and queries raised.
The event was successful in evoking a sense of skill development among the attendees. It was told how, as the internet evolves, it must be addressed in the educational efforts as internet and the various platforms are critical in a scenario where information and communication are mediated through this technology.
The entire event was brought to a graceful conclusion by a Vote of Thanks that was presented by Prof. (Dr.) Shriya Goyal, Dean-SLA, who presented her gratitude to the speaker for the session. She also congratulated the organizers for successfully hosting the event, and the virtual audience. Everyone relished the event and gained information of the much important topic of the current century that revolves around the tech-innate, future oriented, active and realist Generation Z.
