Seminar on Good Health & Good Nutrition

A one-day Seminar on “Good Health & Good Nutrition” was organized by the Department of Food Technology of Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences (UCALS) in the Seminar Hall on the occasion of National Nutrition Week (1-7 September, 2017).This seminar was supported by VLCC. The seminar was inaugurated with the lightening of lamp by Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor of the University, Ms. Pooja Mehta, Assistant Center Manager VLCC-Dehradun and Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal, Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences (UCALS).

In his address, Prof. (Dr) N.K. Joshi welcomed the VLCC experts and the participants. He appreciated the faculty members and students of Applied and Life Sciences for organizing productive and qualitative seminars. He also appreciated the research efforts being done by Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences.

Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh extended his warm welcome to one and all present and motivated the students towards taking healthy diet and advised them to avoid junk food.

Ms. Pooja Mehta, Assistant Center Manager-VLCC and Ms Shalini Kumar, Slimming Head of VLCC-Dehradun region presented lectures on good health and nutrition. They also interacted with the students and gave useful tips towards maintaining good health. Ms Pooja Mehta shared information regarding DNA based diet for health management. Ms Shalini Kumar delivered her presentation on stress management in adolescent life. She explained the effect of stress on sleep and the level of health during college life. Dr Shuchi Upadhyay also presented a lecture on healthy diet.

The seminar was organized by Dr Shuchi Upadhyay, Assistant Professor – Department of Food Technology, with the cordial support of Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Ms. Deepika Kohli and Dr. Richa Badola. About 200 students of Food Technology, Biotechnology and Industrial Chemistry participated in the seminar and were enlightened by the information on functional food, stress management and weight management.

Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh concluded the seminar with a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and participants.
