A one-day Workshop on ‘Food Entrepreneurship’ with an inter-collegiate ‘Recipe Contest’ was organized by the Department of Food Technology in collaboration with Entrepreneurship-Cell (E-Cell) of Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences (UCALS) on 3rd May, 2018 in Uttaranchal University. The entire program was formally organized by Dr. Shuchi Upadhayay and Er. Sanjay Kumar (Faculty – Department of Food Technology) under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Ajay Singh, Principal, UCALS. The event was organized with an objective to develop the entrepreneurship skills, personal characteristics, interpersonal skills, critical and creative thinking skills and practical skills of the students. The theme of the ‘Recipe Contest’ was “High Protein – High Fiber Food”. Approximately 122 students from the colleges of Uttaranchal University actively participated and brought forward some unique recipes such as Vegetable Dhokla, Tofu Manchurian, Vegetable Momos, Choco-Seeds, Daalbaati, Mocktail, Smoothies, to name a few. Dr. Ankita Joshi (Director – HR and Corporate Relations) and Dr. Vandana Joshi (Joint Registrar) formed the esteemed jury of the event. Hon’ble Chancellor Shri. Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi and Director-Student Affairs and IT Services, Dr. Abhishek Joshi commended the idea of organizing the event and encouraged the organization of such events in the future. The Faculty Members of the Department of Food Technology, namely, Er. Deepika Kohli & Dr. Richa Badola and Dr. Vivekanand Bahuguna (Member-E-Cell) along with the faculty members of other colleges were also actively involved in the event.
