A one-day Seminar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ was organized by Uttaranchal Institute of Technology in collaboration with Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology on 31st August, 2018. The target audience comprised of all the III and IV Year Students of B.Tech. The key objective of this Seminar was to sensitize the participants towards the basics of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and its role in enhancing the quality of research and innovation output including incubation and commercialization. All the constituent Departments of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology collaborated and organized the event.
The Seminar was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chancellor Mr. Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Seminar Expert Dr.Anju Rawat (UCOST) and Mr. Himanshu Goel, (UCOST). Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi extended a warm welcome towards the Guest Speakers and all the participants.
The Seminar began with the introduction of the expert Dr.Anju Rawat, Scientist & Head-Patent Information Centre, UCOST, Dehradun and Mr. Himanshu Goel, Project Scientist, UCOST given by Dr. Sumit Chaudhary, Head of the Department, Computer Science and Engineering.
In her address, Dr. Rawat provided an overview about the various facets of IPR including patents, designs, copyrights, trademarks, biodiversity, geographical indications, to name a few, along with the growing horizons of the same and enforcement dimensions. Mr. Himanshu Goel, UCOST also briefed about copy rights and patents.
The Seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sumit Chaudhary.
He expressed his hope that the participants would continue to extend their active participation in academic and research activities of the University. Ms. Sumita Lamba was the anchor of the Seminar.
All the Heads of the constituent Departments, namely, Dr. Shriya Goyal, Mr. Sanjeev Joshi, Mr. Devendra Singh, Mr. Amit Sharma, Mr. Amit Bahuguna and Mr. Adesh Kumar along with Faculty Members of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology were present on the occasion.
