All the First Year Students of B.Tech. visited Kotra Santoor village on 21st August, 2018 which was scheduled as per Induction Program-2018. Dr. Sumit Chaudhary (HoD – CSE), Mr. Sunil Ghildiyal (HoD – B.Tech. First Year), Mrs. Rachna Juyal and Mr. Piyush Agarwal accompanied the students in this visit.

The students visited the entire village wherein they interacted with people and came to know about their daily life. At the first glimpse the students found the village to be pleasant and peaceful area as it was free from air pollution and noise pollution. Subsequently, they also observed many problems in the village like rough roads, scarcity of drinking water, unhygienic environment, to name a few. They also visited the Government Schools of the village and found the infrastructure of the school very old, ruined and dirty. The Practical Laboratories of the School were not having adequate instruments. Students were shocked to know that the cost for mid day meal provided per student amounted to a meagre sum of Rs. 2.45 per day.

The students had a first-hand experience of the harsh realities of village life with lacking amenities and infrastructure. The visit made the students empathise with the villagers and initiated introspection on the possible ways in which they could contribute to the society.
