Uttaranchal Institute of Technology conducted a “Donation Drive “on 15th December, 2017 with the aim to help the less fortunate. The campaign was organized and accomplished by the students and faculty members of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Humanities.

The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi and Director-Student Affairs and IT Services Dr. Abhishek Joshi. Heads of the Departments of UIT along with Faculty Members, Staff Members and students were present on the occasion. Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi appreciated the initiative and advised for regular conduct of such drives. He asserted that we cannot help everyone but our small endeavour can help someone. Dr. Abhishek Joshi expressed his intention of planning more drives aiming towards charity with the involvement and participation of the students. He reiterated ‘Charity begins at Home” – every small effort is a positive beginning.

The students and faculty members endeavoured to collect as many clothes and utilities as possible to keep the deprived ones comfortable in harsh summers and winters. Many students and teachers from all the constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University donated their old belongings.  All the collected articles were distributed to the needy in the nearby slum areas. Such activities strengthen the emotional health of the students and ignite among them compassion for the deprived.
