An Orientation Program for the new students of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology was organized on 21st August 2017 in the Seminar Hall. The function was graced by the presence of our Hon’ble Chancellor Mr. Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Director, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology Prof. (Dr.) B. Lonia, Heads of all the Departments and our faculty members apart from the new students of B.Tech. The program was initiated and conducted by Mr. Sunil Ghildiyal , Coordinatoor, B.Tech I Year.

An apt atmosphere was created with the recitation of the reverend ‘Kul Geet’ of the University
followed by ‘lighting of the lamp’ by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Chancellor Mr. Jitender Joshi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K.Joshi, and Director- Uttaranchal Institute of Technology Prof. (Dr.) B. Lonia. The respected dignitaries were presented a bouquet of flowers as a mark of gratitude for gracing the occasion.



In his welcome address Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N.K.Joshi, welcomed and introduced Prof. (Dr.) B.Lonia as the Director of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology. He welcomed the new students in the family and assured them that they were in safe hands in Uttaranchal University. He further asked Heads of all the Departments and faculty members to formally introduce themselves. Showcasing the history of Uttaranchal University he highlighted the accomplishments in the form of awards and recognitions received and stressed that getting admission into Uttaranchal University is the starting of a new journey to achieve one’s aspirations. He referred to the University’s National and International Collaborations, Library Facility, state-of-the-art Laboratories, Computer Centre and Corporate Relations and Placement Centre and asserted that these facilities highly complement and supplement the students’ professional competence. Affirming faith and confidence on his highly capable and experienced faculty members, he exhorted the students to make the best use of the learning opportunity spread before them and motivated them to keep their focus on achieving success and professional satisfaction. After a brief reference to the teaching-learning process and other facilities provided he explained the examination process and the grading system in detail, stressing that 75% attendance is mandatory to appear in the University Examinations. He asked the students to be aware and careful of the do’s and don’ts of the University. In conclusion he quoted Swami Vivekananda and motivated one and all to follow the ‘way to success’ in pursuit of one’s goal.

Prof. (Dr.) B. Lonia, Director, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology addressed the gathering and welcomed the new students. He emphasized on the need and importance of rules and regulations and affirmed that he will always be there as a helping and guiding hand following the University protocol. He assured that if the students have any genuine grievance, they can contact their Mentor or Class Coordinator or HOD or the Director himself. Their genuine grievances will be redressed appropriately by the institute. He further informed that our institute is a ragging-free zone. Any student facing ragging must immediately contact the concerned authorities. He conveyed that a list of the members of anti-ragging squad with their phone numbers could be accessed through all the Notice Boards. He expressed his desire to see today’s students as tomorrow’s successful professionals transforming India to a developed nation.



In his welcome address Hon’ble Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, Mr Jitender Joshi, assured the students that by opting Uttaranchal University they have taken a right step. The University will fulfill their expectations. The new entrants will be extended all help and support from the University in their academic pursuits and student activities thus reiterating that the objective of Uttaranchal University is not only to impart education but to provide opportunities for character-building. He advised them to remain focused and use their experience at Uttaranchal University to build a firm foundation for great achievements. He advised the students to devote the forthcoming 3-4 years of their life towards studies and honing their skills as it would act as the turning point leading their life towards the best. He informed that a number of reputed companies will visit the campus and asserted that it was the liability of the students to prove themselves worthy of selection. First Year students, from the very beginning, should strive and aim for I division marks. They must grow in all areas to get good placements. He encouraged the new students to get familiar with the campus and make optimum use of the college resources. He empathized with the parents and advised the students to follow safety measures while driving. He asked the students to acknowledge and respect the hard work and aspirations of their parents by becoming good human beings and achieving success. In conclusion he extended his blessings to the students and wished them success in their new academic phase.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Sunil Ghildiyal, who thanked all the dignitaries, faculty members and the students for their presence and expressed his best wishes to one and all.
