Uttaranchal University Computer Science Club (UU-CSC), under the supervision of Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, organized an event titled “CODEGYAN” for the students of B.tech. (C.S.E) the first year on November 26, 2021, Friday. The event commenced with the welcome note delivered by Shivam Balodi, President, UU-CSC. He talked about the event and welcomed Prof. (Dr.) S.D Pandey, Director, UIT, Uttaranchal University, Dr.Minakshi Memoria, HOD, CSE, UIT, Uttaranchal University, and Mr.Mukesh Pandey, Faculty Coordinator UU-CSC, Assistant professor, CSE, UIT, Uttaranchal University, and other dignitaries. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of an auspicious lamp by all dignitaries namely Dr. S.D Pandey and Dr. Minakshi Memoria. Dr. S.D Pandey enlightened the students with his words of wisdom and talked about the advancement of technology in every field and emphasized that upskilling is the need of the hour. Dr.Minakshi Memoria greeted the first-year students and motivated them to participate with zest and confidence and talked about how these kinds of events bring the students together on the same platform, boosting social interaction and exchanging many ideas and concepts. After the welcome ceremony, the event started at 10:30 AM with the dictation of rules by Yash Adhikari, Student Coordinator, UU-CSC. This was a workshop event organized exclusively for B.Tech first-year students on the topic C/C++ and introduction to competitive programming. All the participants were required to gather at the mentioned event venue and they were taught about the basics and C/C++ language. Sobhagya Dev, Technical head, UU-CSC, and Ashita Aswal, Assistant Secretary, UU-CSC were the tutor for the workshop and they delivered a concise and clear lecture on the given topics. We were determined to deliver an effective and outcome-based session so after each topic we asked some MCQs on the telegram channel. Every member of UU-CSC was standing beside a group of students to clear their doubts. At the end of the session, the participants were introduced to competitive programming and the HackerEarth platform. They were taught about how basics and logical thinking play an important role in programming. The tutors solved some questions on the HackerEarth platform. All the students participated with full enthusiasm and a total of 53 students participated in the workshop. All participants got an E-Certificate for participation. The objective of the workshop was to introduce the first-year students to the basics of programming and competitive programming. The event was successfully concluded with the support and guidance of Dr. Minakshi Memoria (HOD, B. Tech CSE) and Mr.Mukesh Pandey (Faculty coordinator UUCSC), and volunteered by the members of UU-CSC.
