Uttaranchal University organizes a one-week Faculty Development Programme on “Advanced Research & Statistical Techniques”

A one-week Faculty Development Programme was organized by School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University on “Advanced Research & Statistical Techniques” from 22 February to 28 February, 2019. The main objective of this FDP was to explore & emphasize upon various statistical and research techniques that can be utilized in different research areas and academic domains. This FDP was coordinated and arranged by Dean (Research & Studies) & Principal Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh.

The event was inaugurated on 22nd February by Hon’ble Chancellor Mr. Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi, Principal and Dean (Research & Studies) Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Guest Speakers Dr. Vineet Kumar (Scientist-G & Head – Chemistry Division, FRI) and Dr. Raman Nautiyal (Expert Statistics). The Inaugural Session was anchored by Dr. Bharti Ramola, Department of Chemistry, SALS.

During the Inauguration Session, Dr. Vineet Kumar delivered an Interactive Lecture on ‘Advanced Research Techniques’. Dr. Vineet Kumar, in his impressive lecture, enriched the participants with the invaluable knowledge on different research techniques for research scholars and faculty members.

Session II included two lectures.  The first lecture was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Raman Nautiyal on ‘Statistical Techniques in Research’. He explained the concept of statistics for Researcher with applications. The second lecture was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) MSM Rawat (Ex-VC, HNBGU) on ‘Research Techniques’.

Day 2 comprised of an Industrial Visit to Ved Lifesavers Ltd. Selaqui, for Quality Control and Validation under the guidance of Dr. Anil Singh (Director). This was followed by a Keynote Lecture delivered by Prof.(Dr.) Ajay Singh on ‘Quality Management’.

3rd Day included three lectures delivered by Dr. R C Dimri on ‘Research Methodology’, Dr. V. K. Srivastava on ‘Mathematical Techniques’ and Dr. Sachin Chauhan (Director, Tech Gene Research Institute) on ‘Advances in Biological Techniques’.

4th Day included three lectures delivered by Dr. Saurabh Srivastava (GM – QC, Ved Life Savers) on ‘Advanced Quality Control Techniques’, Dr. Naveen Kumar on ‘NMR Spectra’ and Dr. Nishesh Sharma on ‘Molecular Analysis of Biomolecules’.

5th Day included two lectures delivered by Dr. Vineet Kumar on ‘Analytical Methods’ and Dr. N Vishvanadhan on ‘Advancements in Characterization Techniques (XRD/ICP)’.
6th Day included two lectures on ‘Computation Skill Development in Research’ delivered by Dr. Rajeev Tiwari and Dr. Sumit Chaudhary.

The Valedictory Session initiated with an Interactive Lecture delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh on ‘Plagiarism, Copyright & IPR’ which emphasized on originality of research & explained the consequences of copy right & plagiarism. This was followed by a Vote of Thanks and distribution of Certificates.
