The Inaugural Ceremony initiated with the recital of the University Anthem followed by the felicitation of the dignitaries.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi briefed the students regarding the impact of MOOC Courses. He motivated the students for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) as these courses are free online courses available for anyone to enroll. MOOCs provide an affordable and flexible way to learn new skills, advance student’s career and deliver quality educational experiences at scale.
Ms. Shyama Iyer briefed the students regarding the benefits of MOOC courses. She elaborated that these are online courses aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web. MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distance education, first introduced in 2006 and emerged as a popular mode of learning in 2012.
Ms. Akanksha Saini gave the details of MOOC Courses and explained how it works. Think of it like an online platform where students and teachers come together and form an online pool of resources, which are readily available for students to utilize. Students have the option of listening to lectures, downloading notes, and most importantly, sharing their point of view by communicating with their peers. Networking makes the process seem like a virtual online classroom.
The Seminar was truly inspiring and thought-provoking.
The Seminar was coordinated by Mr. Ravi Dhaundiyal (FOSS Coordinator, Uttaranchal University and Assistant Professor, CSE).
The Seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sunil Ghildiyal (HOD-CSE, UIT).
