Industrial Visit has its own importance in the career of students especially the ones who are pursuing technical education. Theoretical knowledge in itself is never enough for making a good professional career. With an aim to go beyond academics, Industrial Visit provides student a practical perspective on the world of work. It provides students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. It gives them exposure to current work practices as opposed to possibly theoretical knowledge being taught at college. Industrial Visits provide an excellent opportunity to interact with industries and know more about industrial environment.
With these objectives University Polytechnic, Uttaranchal University, conducted yet another Industrial Visit on November 22, 2019 with around forty (40) students of ME & EE II Year under the supervision of members of faculty, namely, Mr. Ankur Dimri and Ms. Sonali Rawat to BHEL, Haridwar to give them a firsthand exposure of the industrial work environment.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), owned and founded by the Government of India, is an engineering and manufacturing company based in New Delhi, India. Established in 1964, BHEL is India’s largest power generation equipment manufacturer. The students and faculty members were given a cordial welcome by the Executive Engineer Mr. Vinay Kumar who also showed the various sections of their site during the tour and gave invaluable information & knowledge to all the students about Turbine Shop/Forging Shop, CNC Section, Lathe Machine, grinding of alloys steel and sheet metals. Besides this the students also got invaluable knowledge about fabrication and turbines machines and their operational process.
The students were also able to fetch a very small time to see the religious city and made this tour an overall enriching learning experience for them.
The students thanked the Principal of University Polytechnic Dr. S.K. Shah for his continued interest and efforts for upgrading their practical knowledge base and requested to give them more such opportunities in the future as well.
