Workshop on Advances in Internet of Things (I.O.T)

Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, under the aegis of Uttaranchal University organized two days’ workshop on “Advances in Internet of Things (I.O.T)” on 3-4 March 2017.  This workshop was inaugurated by Honorable Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. S.C Joshi, Director Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director Ms. Ankita Joshi, Director of UIT and Dean Academic Affairs Prof. N.K. Joshi, Guest of Honour Dr. Vinod Taneja Director N.I.C Dehradun and Subject Expert Prof. E. Pillai, MNIT Jaipur. Prof. N.K. Joshi, Director UIT & Dean Academic Affairs addressed the Inaugural Session and spoke about the objectives and outline of the workshop. He told that the scope of Internet of Things is much broader than what we generally think. He explained how Internet of Things can be utilized in the fields of Smart House, Smart City, Smart Light and other fields related with health and daily life. Dr. Vinod Taneja, Director N.I.C Dehradun mentioned how the dream of Digital India is being transformed into reality with the help of Information Technology in e- governance.  He also discussed the job opportunities of IT in Government Dept and motivated the participants to make preparations for the same. In his speech, Prof. E. Pillai shared his views about methods of using Internet of Things for saving money and time. Honourable Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi congratulated and extended his good wishes to the organizers of this workshop.

In the upcoming two days, during the technical sessions, the participants will learn various things related to Internet of Things, including hands on experience with IOT devices and applications, importance of Wi-fi for IOT devices, challenges related with IOT applications, location access, cloud computing and big data. Computer Science HOD Dr. Anchit Bijalwal, Sumita Lamba, Tarun Kumar ,Puneet and all other department members played an important role in organizing this workshop.
