The Department of Petroleum Engineering, UIT – Uttaranchal University organized a workshop on Pressure Transient Analysis using PT 4.0, a software for well testing on 8th April’17, under the aegis of Uttaranchal University Society of Exploration Geophysicists (UU–SEG) student chapter. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Neelesh Hassani, Petroleum Engineering. More than 50 students participated in the workshop and could grab practical understanding of well testing with number of case studies.

The workshop started with fundamentals of well testing including types of flow regime, pressure build-up analysis, pressure drawdown analysis etc. Mainstay of the workshop was to confirm discovery and productivity, clean-up the rate & to obtain a rate measurement, volume fluid sample, testing sand production, learning about the flow behavior around the wellbore, investigating reservoir connectivity and proven volume, extracting information about the well and reservoir performance (skin, turbulence, permeability, initial pressure, reservoir, heterogeneity, boundaries) etc. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. ArpitVerma, Faculty Advisor, UU–SEG student chapter and Mr. Vinay Babu, Head – Petroleum Engineering.
